APSE and ITN Productions

APSE have teamed up with ITN Productions to make programmes that highlight the issues facing local authorities today.

In 2016, APSE and ITN Productions developed Promoting Excellence, a programme that looks at the difficulties facing local government today and in the future. Now, we look at ways that local authorities are managing demand and expectations - despite facing extensive budget cuts. In a new programme for 2017, entitled Redefining Neighbourhoods: Beyond Austerity, we explore innovative ways that local councils are successfully running their frontline services.

These programmes highlight the problems that local councils are facing on a daily basis. Yet this is only half the story; we also show how local authorities are overcoming these issues, being resilient, and constantly improving. However, the problem remains; local councils still need more money in order to maintain vital neighbourhood services.
