Services included in this group are recycling, waste management, street cleansing, street scene and public realm services.
Topics featured include: service delivery arrangements; latest legislative and policy issues, such as Simpler Recycling and implementation of food waste collections; campaigns, education and enforcement and the wider policy landscape such as ETS, EPR and DRS, all of which will impact on local authorities.
Within Street Cleansing we cover environmental issues such as waste crime, litter, flytipping, graffiti, abandoned vehicles and dog fouling; quality standards; partnership working with voluntary organisations, police and fire services.
The group also covers operational issues such as domestic and trade collections, use of vehicles/equipment, working patterns, apprenticeships and staff development. The group is followed by an APSE performance networks benchmarking meeting dedicated to recycling, waste and street cleansing services.
