We are delighted to announce that the Traffic Commissioners for Great Britain have confirmed Victoria Davies, Traffic Commissioner for Wales will provide the latest update from the Traffic Commissioners office on day one of the conference. Other organisations confirmed to speak at this year's event already include the DVSA, Logistics UK and Transport Scotland.

Other topics and speakers for this year's event include:-

• Building tomorrow's recycling: Co-designing sustainable household solutions - This will be a joint session with Scottish Government and a local authority
• Navigating drug and alcohol policy: Understanding testing regimes and their impact - Organisations providing their valuable input in this session include Local authority scenarios, Lothian Buses and Intelligent Fingerprinting
• Current and future challenges for waste and recycling including the impact of overconsumption and the emissions trading scheme - Insight will be provided from Zero Waste Scotland and APSE Associates
• Enhancing street cleansing services: The environmental impact and roadside litter - This session will include a local authority case study and also insights from Keep Scotland Beautiful

Striving for Excellence Awards 2025

APSE Scotland is delighted to announce we are once again hosting our Striving for Excellence awards at our 2025 Scottish Fleet, Waste and Grounds services seminar in Aviemore. These awards will recognise the hard work and success of local authority services in Scotland and provide an excellent opportunity for those within the related service areas to put forward their most deserving initiative which demonstrates innovative ideas and solutions to tackle the current challenges facing our services.

These awards are to recognise the excellent work which local authorities are currently involved in within their services.  Enter these awards to help drive the improvement of service delivery and performance, position your authority as a leader in innovation and earn recognition from your peers by putting your project’s achievements in the spotlight.  Entries can be submitted for the following categories: -

• Waste and Recycling
• Parks, Grounds and Street Scene
• Fleet

Entries will be assessed on a submission basis by an independent judging panel with all Scottish authorities able to submit.  The local authorities who are finalists receive publicity, both national and locally with the winners being announced at the seminar’s annual dinner on Thursday 22 May 2025.  All successful Silver submissions in these awards will receive a free place at the APSE Scotland Fleet, Waste and Grounds services seminar for the full event and accommodation for three nights.
