Increasingly Local Authorities use the language of programme management to define, monitor and evaluate a range of activities which aim to achieve specific outcomes.

Local Authority programmes take place across a wide range of frontline and corporate services. Whether yours is a strategically led programme, a programme which has emerged because of the growing relationship between projects, or one which must be done in response to external factors or compliance, chances are that you will be expected to balance change with the needs of business-as-usual.

This new course will unravel some of the key principles behind effective programme management; unpick the crucial governance arrangements needed to organise, plan and mange for change; and unlock the stages and transitions which lead to benefits realisation and successful programme closure.

This is a practical skills-based course, which is highly interactive, packed with the tools needed for robust programme management. Collaborative learning and networking are important elements of this course, with opportunities for you to share your good practice and learn from the good practice of others.

Who will benefit from attending?

Managers with responsibility for a series of projects or who manage programmes, either in a Programme Management Office (PMO) or part of a stand-alone service; directors, heads of service, service managers and those who are at the beginning of their programme management career.
