Research has shown that many young people are unaware of the varied and potentially impactful career opportunities in local government and see the sector as unappealing. The ‘Find Your Path’ campaign - launching on 24 February 2025 - will focus on attracting young people aged between 18 and 27 and highlight the variety of local council roles available to them.
'Find Your Path' will run initially as an eight week pilot in five local council areas: Barnsley, Hounslow, Oxfordshire, Plymouth and South Gloucestershire. The campaign will use targeted social media platforms including Meta, YouTube and TikTok to raise awareness and address common misconceptions, inspiring a younger demographic to consider life-changing careers in local councils.
A dedicated website has been set up here: www.findyourpath.uk where applicants can view live vacancies or register their interest in working for local government.
Join APSE and ADEPT for a special roundtable focused on attracting Gen Z to the local government workforce - with insight from focus groups, an overview of the campaign, and the view from across the UK.
