Thursday 6 and Friday 7 March 2025
Our National Building and Housing event is coming to Scotland! This event is taking place on Thursday 6 and Friday 7 March 2025.
Climate change, energy, and sustainability continue to be critical policy priorities across the UK, alongside the ongoing challenges of heating homes and the cost-of-living crisis. Housing and building maintenance services play a vital role in addressing these priorities, particularly in decarbonising housing stock. However, with mounting budget pressures, local authorities are increasingly confronted with the challenges of supporting national government in achieving these ambitious policy goals.
This seminar brings together expert speakers who will explore key topics, including social housing regulation and standards, such as the Scottish Government’s Social Housing Net Zero Standard (SHNZS), along with the Scottish Housing Regulator's updated ARC indicators and technical guidance and SP Energy Networks on how they can support local authorities to achieve net zero. We will also examine the current state of the building maintenance market and discuss how local authorities are revitalising their communities through innovative housing developments. Additionally, delegates will hear from case studies on local authority strategies for enhancing performance and efficiency.
Another important focus of the event will be the RAAC challenge, with an opportunity for delegates to debate and discuss ways local authorities can effectively manage assets in an evolving landscape. On the second day, we will host an interactive session that takes a deeper dive into the living wage and its impact on local authority apprentices, while also continuing discussions on navigating the new standards introduced on day one.
This event provides a valuable platform for delegates to exchange best practices, network with peers, and gain insights into how others across the UK are tackling the challenges at hand. To close day one, we will celebrate the success of apprentices and councils at the National Apprentice of the Year Awards, following the annual dinner, honouring their outstanding contributions over the past year.
APSE would also like to thank Vaillant as one of our other conference sponsors.
