The future role of elected members in Scotland

Headed North today to speak at an APSE fringe meeting at the SNP Party Conference in Perth, on the future role of elected members in Scotland. This was also an opportunity to launch our research of the same name, undertaken by De Montfort, Cardiff and Edinburgh University's.

The fringe was packed out with over 50 delegates present. Dr Melvin Wingfield from De Montfort introduced the research prior to contributions from myself and MSP's Richard Lyle and Kevin Stewart.

A really useful debate followed where delegates put forward their views on the financial and policy challenges local government faces in Scotland over the next 5 years following on from the referendum.
