The world of waste management has been in a constant state of flux in recent years with delayed changes to waste legislation and continued uncertainty, now with changes agreed and set to commence. Despite these challenges local authorities strive to provide a high-quality waste management service with limited budgets.
This seminar will look at the future of waste and recycling, and address the new waste legislation including simpler recycling, extended producer responsibility, mandatory food waste collections, and the wider implications of local government reorganisation for many districts. We will also be exploring the circular economy and key innovations.
Join us to hear from policy leaders and experts from government and agencies from across the UK. We will also hear leading case studies and shared best practice from local authorities striving to meet targets within the scope of the new waste legislation and show innovation in wider areas such as the circular economy and reuse.
The event will also shine a spotlight on safety in collections, reducing environmental impacts through decarbonisation, a better use of resources and providing services more sustainably. Innovation and best practice across local authorities and their partners remain key themes in this APSE Seminar.
A fabulous opportunity for elected members, officers, and other key stakeholders to hear the latest from government, ask questions, share thoughts and views on how they are meeting the growing environmental agenda, operational and financial challenges to create a better, safer and more sustainable environment - for present and future generations.
To celebrate local authorities that are going the extra mile, we are inviting submissions from authorities that have shown real innovation in the following categories:
Please send your completed forms to George Barton, at [email protected]
Entries will be assessed on a submission basis by an independent judging panel.
Shortlisted submissions will be expected to make a short presentation to a judging panel during the seminar, which will contribute to their overall score.
The award winners will be announced at the end of the seminar, making this a great value one-day event with a packed agenda and key networking opportunity.
By keeping our event in one day, we have minimised the need for overnight accommodation, reducing costs for your authority.
