APSE Energy workshop

APSE Energy workshop

Energy Efficiency: Structures for local authorities

Emirates Old Trafford, Lancashire Cricket Ground

Monday 7 July 2014

View Full Seminar Information

The workshop which is being organised in partnership with Walker Morris LLP is designed to explore the opportunities for local government to benefit from energy efficiency measures across the whole of its estate. In 2009 buildings accounted for about 43% of all U.K. carbon emissions.

According to the Carbon Trust the energy consumption of local authorities is estimated to be at least 26 billion kWh per year. This results in annual CO2 emissions of more than 6.9 Mt and corresponds to energy expenditure in the order of £750 million per year. Energy is one of the largest controllable overheads in most local authority buildings so there are many opportunities to make savings. With or without financial support from Central Government, local authorities can achieve a great deal in improving energy efficiency and saving money.

The workshop will look at:
• Examples of best practice across local government
• Different means of financing projects
• Contract management and contractual issues
• Managing risks

There will be an opportunity to hear from legal, financial and insurance experts and to contribute to group discussion and feedback.

This event is FREE to attend for members of APSE energy. This includes a full delegate place and information, arrival coffee and registration, mid-morning break and lunch. The workshop will allow delegates to network over lunch.

Members of APSE energy: - Free to attend
Non members: £50 +VAT
