Newcastle City Council in conjunction with ManagEnergy (an EU funded project to assist the public sector, and their advisers, working on energy efficiency and renewable energy actions at the local and regional levels) and Energy Cities, the European Association of local authorities in energy transition, has organised a seminar entitled Exploring Public Sector ESCOs which is being held at the Civic Centre, Newcastle Upon Tyne on Tuesday 9 December 2014 from 9.45 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
The seminar aims to raise awareness across local and regional authorities in:
•The different ESCO models under development in the UK and the options available to local authorities
•The potential of future energy supply companies to generate a revenue to re-invest in low carbon and renewable technologies in cities and support implementation of Sustainable Energy Action Plans (SEAPs)
•Options to tackle fuel poverty through tariff offers
This is a FREE seminar and local authorities are encouraged to attend. Attendance is on a first come, first serve basis. This seminar is a timely event as local authorities are beginning to explore in more detail the opportunities presented by the establishment of local energy supply arrangements.
