Physical activity is an important aspect of life that should be encouraged whatever your age, where you live or your socio- economic status. This is especially important in these trying times that we find ourselves with all the issues brought about by COVID 19 and the impact on leisure services generally. 

In this seminar we will be looking at the different ways that local authorities continue to drive and increase physical activity in all of their residents regardless of back ground, whether they live in an urban or rural area, are old or young. 

Topics include Active Oxfordshire talking about Breaking down barriers to active travel for children and families while  at the other end of the age range, we will learn about Go Active Gold, an initiative to encourage the over 60’s in rural areas to live a more active lifestyle.

Sports England will be sharing with us their Increasing diversity in sport and physical activity campaign, which aims to improve diversity within the sport and physical activity sector.

We will also be joined by APSE’s Debbie Johns, who will be sharing with us how leisure services are performing across the country in these times due to the impact of the pandemic.

We look forward to welcoming you as we explore with like-minded colleagues the continuing challenges that local authorities face whilst trying to encourage a healthy and active community in their area.
