There remains a pressing need for the delivery of adequate numbers of homes across the UK. This has been the case for many years although housing has been rising up the political agenda in recent years and there is a need for 300,000 homes across England, 36,000in Scotland and 14,000 in Wales. We have been unable to build these kind of numbers of new homes which is why all approaches need to be considered including options for self-build and council house building. Equally we cannot to build homes without any consideration of sustainability issues and we must be as concerned with low carbon when building homes as we are with the numbers built. This event will provide an opportunity to hear from officers at Cherwell District Council, an area with a heavy demand for new homes, and hear about their experiences when supporting the growth of Bicester, promoting new housing, ensuring a low carbon approach and enabling self-build.
There will also be a presentation on climate emergency declarations and the type of issues to be considered when taking them forward and how they link to the housing and planning agenda.
This event is free for APSE Energy members but a charge (of £50) will be made to anyone who books a place but does not attend.
