Planning for our Future: Embedding energy and climate change into local plan policies

With around 1,400 local government bodies, in 28 countries, having declared a Climate Emergency and recognising that around 300 of these are UK Councils, joined by 8 Combined Authorities and City Regions, the landscape is changing rapidly. The local plan and the policies within it are vital to ensure appropriate developments are permitted and they must be relevant, up to date and practical. This report seeks to highlight the role of statutory planning in the enabling, promotion and management of renewable and low carbon energy projects at a local, regional and national scale.
