This is an exciting opportunity to develop and manage the delivery of a range of energy & environmental initiatives with a community focus, in particular the National Lottery SCRAP, 5 year project (Sefton Climate Retrofit Action Project). You will play a key role within the Council’s Energy & Environmental Management Section and the wider Property Services division.

Thanks to National Lottery players, Sefton Climate & Retrofit Action Programme (SCRAP) has received £866,547.58 over five years from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest community funder in the UK.

This comes from the Climate Action Fund, a £100 million commitment over 10 years from The National Lottery Community Fund to support communities across the UK to take action on climate change and involve more people in climate action. This forms part of one of the funder’s four key missions in its 2030 strategy, ‘It starts with community’ - supporting communities to be environmentally sustainable.

You will be managing two Climate Ready advisors with a SCRAP co-ordinator to deliver both the SCRAP outputs as well as oversee work on the Council’s Healthy Green Homes programme.

You will need to effectively project manage the delivery of the SCRAP outputs on behalf of the Council, liaising with The National Lottery and organising work both internally and supporting the local community groups involved in delivery.

You will be expected to work with the Section manager to secure external funding to maintain and/or enhance these services and support staff to deliver effective services. You will need to be aware of all applicable legislation, strategies and policies for example the Home Energy Conservation Act.

You will need to have a flexible and positive approach to work, along with the necessary technical attributes. We require a strong commitment to customer care and the ability to work effectively as part of a busy team.

New project development will also be required, so a positive and innovative approach to project development and delivery is important. In addition, the post requires a variety of skills and experience as set out in the job description and person specification.
