Parks, Horticulture and Grounds Maintenance

This group explores issues for parks, open spaces and playgrounds, grounds maintenance, amenity land services, horticulture and arboriculture as well as allotments and cemeteries and crematoria. Topics covered include; operational methods, innovation, funding, legislative and policy changes, apprenticeships and training, and working with businesses and the community. Meetings include regular feedback from APSE representation at GreenLINK and the Amenity Action Plan Implementation Group at the Health and Safety Executive. The group is followed by an APSE performance networks benchmarking meeting dedicated to parks, open spaces and horticultural services.

The APSE Principal Advisor for this group is Matthew Ellis. The chair of this group is Cllr Corall Jenkins, Nottingham City Council.

APSE (Association for Public Service Excellence) is a not for profit unincorporated association working with over 300 councils throughout the UK. Promoting excellence in public services, APSE is the foremost specialist in local authority frontline services, hosting a network for frontline service providers in areas such as waste and refuse collection, parks and environmental services, cemeteries and crematorium, environmental health, leisure, school meals, cleaning, housing and building maintenance.
