A Member Authority is currently reviewing their cleaning and janitorial services and are seeking information regarding janitor/facilities assistant post/caretakers/hall keepers within other authorities.

- Hall keepers

2. What is the current grading structure for your:
- Janitors
- Facilities assistants
- Caretakers
- Hall keepers

3. What job description and person specification are you using for the above posts?

4. Are any of the above staff members carrying out other activities out with their job description / person specifications? If so, can you share what activities they are.

5. How do you determine the number of hours required per building for the following staffing groups:
- Janitors
- Facilities assistants
- Caretakers
- Hall keepers

6. Do you have any ‘mobile’ staff that undertake janitorial / facilities assistants / caretakers / hall keeper’s duties and is their job description and person specification different from above? Can you share the job description / person specification if they are?

7. Do you provide an emergency response and/or call out payment to this staffing group? If yes, can you state how many hours and rate of pay for this task?

A Member Authority are currently reviewing the rates charged for hiring their civic buildings and are seeking information regarding the pricing models other authorities use when hiring venues. The Member Authority would specifically be interested in gaining the following information:-

1. What model do you use to charge for venue hire?
2. Do you offer discounted rates for charities / community groups?
3. Do you have event specific packages e.g. weddings?
4. Are there extra charges for equipment such as audio / visual ?
5. Do you have examples of the charging schedule that you are willing to share ?

A Member Authority are currently conducting a benchmarking exercise to determine how other local authorities charge for their Building Cleaning works. The Member Authority are specifically seeking information regarding the following:-

1. Are cleaning jobs priced on the number of staff working on an hourly basis? Or are cleaning jobs based upon area?

2. What is the calculation used to determine pricing?

3. Are you able to share a pricing schedule for your cleaning works?

 

BC0153 - Reducing Cleaning Frequency - 120718

A Member Authority are seeking information regarding reducing the frequency of cleaning in offices. In particular, the Member Authority would like to know the following:-

1. Have you reduced the frequency of office cleaning
2. What impact is the impact on the standards of cleaning.

 

BC0153 - Janitorial Models - 301018

A Member Authority are looking to gain an insight into Janitorial models used by other Councils. The Member Authority are specifically seeking information regarding the following:

1. What Janitorial model do councils use in terms of working hours and patterns for Primary Schools, High schools and Community Centres?

2. Do Councils work to a standard model in terms of hours for Primary Schools, high Schools and Community Centres?

3. Who is responsible for the opening and closing of buildings ?

A Member Authority is seeking information regarding honesty boxes in public conveniences. The Member Authority would specifically like to know:-


1. Do you have honesty boxes in place in your public conveniences ?
2. Do you have any examples of where this system works successfully?

This authority would like to know from others:

1) Do your cleaning operatives have the BICSc licence to practice?
2) Are any of your supervisors or management team licenced to train and assess cleaning employees?

A Member Authority is seeking information in relation to cashless payment systems for public conveniences and would like to know if other authorities have a cashless system in place or if any authorities are current investigating implementing such a system?

If no, please can you provide examples of your risk assessment that covers this area.

authorities calculate the cost for their window cleaning service. Is
there a flat rate or a complex formula depending on how many
windows/time scale of cleaning required?

This authority would like to know how other authorities work out how
many hours a unit should get for cleaning and how this can be set
against a budget?
