SLAs for Education Catering – CAT149/270514
A member authority is updating their SLAs with schools for school catering services
Schools include:
- high schools, all with cashless systems
- primary schools with cashless systems
- primary schools without cashless systems.
Some specific areas in which they we would like information include:
- Are SLAs with individual schools or generic over the authority?
- Are charges on the basis of per meal served, or a set charge?
- Are schools charged extra/separately to cover catering staff setting out dining furniture for pupils who bring in a packed lunch?
- What contribution do schools make when school closed due to strike action, severe weather closure, closure due to polling?
- Terms for cash collection and banking – frequency and reporting / reconciliation – in non-cashless primaries?

- Is the meal price subsidised in your authority?
- If so, who funds the subsidy (eg schools, local authority, other) and by how much?
- Can you share any scoping / process documentation?
- Did you use consultants to assist and if so who?
- Did you revamp your IT/website and if so which companies did you use?
