A member authority would like to know what uplift rates are charged by other authorities on parts supplied to internal customers?
Do you charge a fixed percentage or a fixed minimum amount etc?
TVM0146 - Separate glass collection in a co-mingled service - 240315
A member authority is trying to establish whether any local authorities operate either a weekly, or alternate weekly, co-mingled dry recyclable material collection service in which glass is presented and collected separately from other dry recyclable materials, and remains separate from the other dry recyclable materials such as paper and plastics on the same split body waste collection vehicle
In relation to the staffing levels of collection crews for this type of service , do local authorities utilise a driver and two operatives or a driver and three operatives.
Finally the member authority would like to know how many local authorities collect all dry recyclables (excluding paper and card) in the same bin/kerbside container so that glass is mixed with plastics, foil etc.

APSE Performance Network is seeking to establish some meaningful SEN Transport Cost data which focus specifically on the overall cost and the cost of the provision of resources used to provide the service, i.e. vehicles, drivers and escorts. The benchmarking data require, based on a unit cost per hour is as follows.

An APSE member is enquiring as to whether local authorities expect their Council Vehicle Workshops staff to provide their own tools in return for a tool allowance?
The National Agreement states “This allowance will apply only where tools are not provided by the Authority”.
The member is looking to discover whether there is a trend towards Council’s providing tools instead of paying staff the tool allowance.

A member authority is undertaking a series of reviews of Transport provision.
They are interested to find out if any other Local Authorities (APSE members) have undertaken system thinking style reviews (including LEAN) of the functions below:
1. Accessible Travel – Concessionary Fares, Blue Badges, Taxicard, Mobility Scooter loans, Shopmobility
2. Passenger Transport provision (older/disabled adults to centres, SEN children – schools, curriculum/out of hours and door to door community transport for social inclusion/shopping etc)
3. Fleet and Workshop (including stores) Including Council-wide vehicle maintenance, procurement, repairs, procurement and MOTs.
4. Green Fleet initiatives – Alternative fuels e.g Bio-diesel, Electric and CNG vehicles.
