TVM0377 - Electric vehicles in commercial fleet -190424

A member authority is looking is looking to introducing electric vehicles (EV’s) into their commercial fleet.

They are interested to hear from anybody who has carried out a cost analysis exercise for vehicles from 3.5t cage tippers, panel vans and car derived vans.

They are interested in whole life costs, and annual running and maintenance costs, plus any extended life expectancy of EV’s compared to diesel. An estimated battery life expectancy would also be appreciated.

 

TVM0376 - Litter picking on high speed road networks – 050424

A member authority is looking for information from other councils who are responsible for litter picking on designated, high speed dual carriageway trunk roads, including methodology, costings and time allowed per kilometre. They are particularly interested in the following aspects: -

a. How often is this work carried out?

b. What time of the year is it done?

c. What times of the day is the work carried out (overnight, Sundays, other)?

d. What traffic management systems are employed to allow the work to go ahead?

e. Are other functions carried out at the same time (e.g. grass cutting, gulley emptying etc.)?

f. Has the work been sub-contracted out and, if so, what rate is charged?

g. Are there health & safety documents (risk assessments, method statements etc.) that you would be willing to share?

 

TVM0375 - Taxi MOT booking system - 290324            

A member authority is refining their system of booking taxi tests

They are seeking to move from a telephone to an online booking system

Please can you supply the following information:

•              How do taxi operators currently book MOT tests ?

•              What system do you use?

•              How are payments currently taken?

•              If online were any issues experienced during implementation

•              How do you describe the benefits?

 

TVM0374 - Vehicle Workshops - Staffing and pay -290324   

A member authority is struggling with the recruitment and retention of workshop technicians

They are concerned that wage rates may be a significant factor

Please can you provide the following information:

•              Are you as an authority having difficulty recruiting and retaining workshop staff?

o             if so what do you believe are the reasons.

•              What are the basic hours worked by your technicians per week?

•              What is the hourly or yearly salary paid to technicians?

•              Do technicians work shifts?

o             if so what are the shift patterns?

•              Are any additional shift allowance or shift supplements paid?

o             if so what are they and the values?.

•              Are all technicians paid the same or are there different grades?

o             if there are grades what are they and what additional pay does this attract?

•              Are there any additional incentives or bonuses paid?

o             if so what are they and how do they work?

•              Do you pay a tool allowance?

TVM0373  - Centralised Pool Vehicles – 120324

A member authority would like to hear from any authorities who have  centralised all pool vehicles under one department/ section. They would like to know what savings have been made in terms of fleet size, running costs & Co2 reduction.

 

TVM0372 - Information on load restraint systems for tippers and flatbeds - 130324            

A member authority would like to hear from local authorities with regards to their load restraint systems, in particular:

Can you please outline what load restraint system is used on tippers and flatbeds for restraining pallets with kerbs or other non-loose loads etc?

Do you ensure that your lashing points comply with BS EN 12640-2001?

Do you include this within your specifications for new builds?

 

TVM0371 - Transport provision - JV model - 280224 

A member authority would like to hear from any local authorities who have  entered into a joint venture arrangement with a charity or other third party (other than commercial providers) to manage adult or children’s regular transport needs, including group transport – minibus or coach use.

They would like to understand:

•          The financial model

•          The operational model

•          The size and type of vehicles used – including whether any were electric vehicles

•          Cost savings

•          Issues or risks and how these were managed

 

TVM0370 - EV fleet utilization - 280224           

An APSE member is seeking information about authorities and their EV fleet and would appreciate if you could answer below;

1 -           Have you introduced any EV into your fleet?

2 - What vehicles types have been introduced?

3 -           How many drivers have received EV training - vehicle familiarity & assessment?

4 - If you have not introduced EV into your fleet are you planning to and when?

5 -           Is there a resistance to introducing EV vehicles and if so please state the primary reasons.

6 - Is your current training provider, qualified to deliver EST training (following the approved Energy Savings Trust programme)?

 

TVM0369 -  Policies when recruiting drivers from abroad – 260324

In the context of a challenging recruitment environment, this authority is seeking some assistance as to what others are doing when recruiting drivers from abroad who wish to work for a local authority in the UK.

One of the barriers to recruitment concerns the possession of a UK driving license to successfully conduct a pre-employment check via DVLA.

This member authority is keen to understand what other Councils done to facilitate recruitment if the potential employee has a country of origin driving license as opposed to a UK license to drive, and do you have any policy documents that you would be willing to share on what you have done?

 

TVM0368 - Accessible Taxi testing specification – 260224

A member authority would be grateful if other local authorities would be happy to share their Accessible Taxi testing specification?

 

TVM0367 - Transition of Electric Vehicles into other services including Health and Social Care - 200224               

This member authority is keen to understand how other authorities are managing the transition of Electric Vehicles into Health & Social Care in particular and what processes are in place for charging vehicles? Are vehicles charged overnight at Health and Social Care Partnership /Council facilities or do they have other processes in place e.g. what process is involved should staff work split shifts and vehicles are not taken home but parked in nearby local area?

 

TVM0366 - Truck Cartel damages action

This local authority is keen to hear from other member authorities in relation to the truck cartel damages action, in particular:-

1. Are you currently part of the Truck Cartel damages claim?

2. If yes, are you part of the claim in the UK wide group or the Scottish group?

3. Do you have any indication of the progress of the claim?

4. Do you have any timelines for the completion of the claim process?

5. Have you withdrawn from the cartel claim due to the timescales involved and/ or cost?
