Econ Engineering is the UK’s leading manufacturer of Winter and Road Maintenance vehicles, based in Ripon, North Yorkshire with an additional three regional depots based around the UK with Scotland being covered by our facility and staff based in Alloa.

Econ’s product range incorporates both dedicated winter gritting, combination and spraying machines, as well as multi purpose vehicles including the Unibody, Multispread and Quick Change Body (QCB) ranges, which were invented by Econ in the early 90s. Multipurpose vehicles allow customers to utilise the vehicles all year round maximising their capital investment.

In addition to our manufacturing heritage Econ has an extensive Gritter Hire Fleet of over 1100 vehicles. Included in our hire offering are all inspections, servicing, breakdown cover and 24/7 service support throughout the Winter period, freeing up limited council technician resource.

Our Highways Road Maintenance vehicle range incorporates the hotbox and roadmender products which can be permanently mounted or utilised with our QCB system.

Our service support for manufactured vehicles is undertaken from our 4 depots and further supported by 27 mobile service engineers of which 8 cover our Scottish customers. These engineers have further backup provided by engineers from our main Sowerby Service Depot.
