The Sports and Leisure Management Advisory group provides an opportunity to share and hear case studies of sports development work and interventions to enhance rates of physical activity within a population demographic or across a local area. A typical agenda may include policy updates from sector partners, input from academic research on emerging evidence-based approaches and facilitate professional development through learning and networking with peer colleagues in other local authorities. All Advisory Group meetings are free to attend and there is no upper limit on how many staff and elected members may attend from each APSE member authority. The group also has the opportunity to gather at our regional Sports and Leisure seminar. To register your details to receive details of upcoming meetings, please complete our contact form, stating your service interest areas.

Through APSE’s Network Query service staff and councillors from member authorities can circulate a query across the Association’s 250+ member authorities to ascertain feedback on matters of service delivery. Previous queries have sought feedback on membership charges, working with volunteers and day-to-day management of leisure facilities. To disseminate a query, please fill out our online request form here. To request a copy of the feedback from a previous query, please click here.
Through Performance Networks, APSE has been supporting member authorities to benchmark outcomes in Sports Facility Management since 1999. Developed organically, under the direction of service managers, the benchmarking group has grown to a UK wide network and conduit of performance information exploring outcomes in cost, quality and productivity. Members can use the service to benchmark up to 15 Sports Facilities including leisure centres (wet facilities) and sports halls (dry facilities). Included within the benchmarking service is a customer satisfaction survey methodology which can be customised per facility and support to process and analyse the survey results.Reports are prepared in a range of formats. The service provides a ‘one-stop shop’ for all data and information related to the performance management of Sports and Leisure Facilities.
