The Waste Management, Refuse Collection and Street Cleansing Advisory group provides an opportunity to share and hear case studies of successful innovations in waste and street cleansing services, delivering improvements in service provision for residents, efficiencies through smarter working practises and commercial income streams. A typical agenda may include policy updates from sector partners, details of recent Advocacy work and facilitate professional development through learning and networking with peer colleagues in other local authorities. All meetings are free to attend and there is no upper limit on how many staff and elected members may attend from each APSE member authority. The group also has the opportunity to gather within the context of Future Focus, the Southern Region's seminar exploring innovative initiatives in service delivery to meet future challenges. Exploring a range of measures including cost per household, rate of missed collections and customer satisfaction, Performance Networks’ Refuse Collection module supports member authorities to benchmark outcomes in domestic and commercial waste collection with authorities across the UK and within family groups. Reports are prepared in a range of formats and the service provides a ‘one-stop shop’ for all data and information related to the performance management of Refuse Collection services.
Through Performance Networks, APSE has been supporting member authorities to benchmark outcomes in Street Cleansing since ?. Developed organically, under the direction of service managers, the benchmarking group has grown to a UK wide network and conduit of performance information exploring outcomes in cost, quality and productivity.
Included within the service is the Land Audit Management System (LAMS)– Street Cleansing facilitating bi-monthly benchmarking of the quality of scoring transacts of land on the quality of public realm management as the public would see it.
Alongside this, Performance Networks and LAMS also provides modules for Cemeteries and Crematoria and Parks, Horticulture and Grounds Maintenance.
