Forum Objectives

Local authorities across the UK have seen little respite from austerity cuts almost a full 10 years since Black Friday and the Global recession.

Whilst it’s not been an easy path for any, it has stimulated many to look for alternative methods of efficiency savings and income generation.

This seminar looks at some of those local authorities who have taken the initiative themselves to  manage demand for services and seek opportunities to leverage their existing services and expertise to generate income. APSE has more than a decade’s experience of supporting local authorities in this task and is often quoted as the go to organisation by central government. During that time APSE has accumulated a wealth of knowledge and case studies from our member authorities and thoroughly explored the legal and contextual issues.

The session will be led by Head of APSE Solutions, Andy Mudd, who brings his engaging style combined with live examples to bring the subject to life for elected members and councillors.

APSE hope all Welsh Authorities take the opportunity of attending to explore what income generation might offer them through the first-hand accounts of those who have found successful solutions.

The APSE Wales AGM will be a short business meeting to ensure that the regions members are able to receive regional accounts, nominate members to APSE’s national council and regional executive and elect a regional chair and secretary. We encourage all members of APSE’s Wales region to ensure their authority is represented at the AGM.
