The Programme for Government, first published in June 2021, includes the commitment to deliver 20,000 new low carbon homes for rent within the social sector during this Government term. In early 2024, the then Cabinet Secretary for Housing, Local Government and Planning said that the Government was “hanging on” to the 20,000 target “by the skin of our teeth”.
To avoid missing this target, the new Cabinet Secretary has asked local authorities to prioritise efforts and resources on schemes to deliver as many homes as possible.
But how?
A forum for discussion complete with best practice case studies, this webinar has been designed for councils to talk through the challenges of delivering additional affordable housing units: What has worked? What hasn't worked? And what extra resources and support are needed to deliver much-needed homes in Wales.
