APSE data in the National Litter Strategy Dashboard

APSE is delighted to announce Defra’s newly published “litter dashboard” will be using data collected from APSE’s performance networks service. The dashboard explains the government’s approach to understanding the extent of litter and littering in England; helping to form a baseline to determine future policy development.

Debbie Johns, Head of APSE Performance Networks, said, “APSE performance data has long been used to great effect by local authority street cleansing services to improve outcomes, so we are thrilled to be involved in this ambitious national project. As highlighted by the litter dashboard, 30% of people in England said there is a “very or fairly big problem” with litter and rubbish in their area. APSE is committed to fixing this, and we are hopeful our robust data will help to achieve a substantial reduction in litter and littering; ensuring local communities throughout England can enjoy a cleaner and greener environment.”

APSE is a member of Defra’s Data and Monitoring Working Group and, in addition to its involvement with the recently published litter dashboard, APSE will be meeting with Defra in the next few weeks to discuss the use of APSE’s Land Audit Management system (LAMS) in future dashboards. APSE’s Performance Networks developed LAMS to help local authorities measure the quality of their streets, parks, green spaces and cemeteries. Further details can be found here.
