The Association for Public Service Excellence will be once again hosting the Annual Service Awards for all local authorities and their public sector partners across the United Kingdom.
Since the awards were launched over sixteen years ago, local authorities from England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales have demonstrated their ability to pursue innovation within service delivery and implement new approaches, improving the level of service to local communities and people.
Interest and recognition in the awards has grown year on year. APSE received over 450 submissions for the 2015 awards, showing how pivotal these awards are to local councils across the UK. The winners and finalists of the awards receive national and local publicity as accomplished exemplars in service delivery.
Over 500 people attended last year’s awards ceremony, including Government Ministers and senior local government figures, who gathered together to celebrate the very best in public service excellence. Though only a short time has passed since the 2015 awards were presented, the growing success of the awards demands the qualification process for 2016 to commence now. This gives councils and their public partners the maximum amount of time to prepare their submissions and supporting evidence.
These awards are crucially important for local government. Not only do they recognise and promote individual achievement, but they also provide an invaluable opportunity for information to be shared with other local authorities and organisations. In this way, councils’ hard work and dedication is used to deliver much-needed and valuable services to communities nationwide.
