Consultation on 'greenprint' for Parks Professionals

I am writing to you as Chair of the Knowledge and Skills work stream of the MHCLG Parks Action Group (PAG) to seek your views on some key questions that have emerged from the comprehensive research ‘Nurturing Skills for 21st Century Parks’ conducted into the current and future requirements for Parks Management in England.

The PAG intends to develop a ‘greenprint’ for Knowledge and Skills for the sector that will last for the next decade and beyond. Of fundamental importance to this is the competency framework developed through the research. Please download an executive summary of the research; which includes the competency framework at page 18. Whilst this has already been consulted on extensively we would appreciate any further views on this.

The PAG would also welcome responses on how organisations are placed to deliver training on the competencies identified. We would also welcome views from institutes or organisations who would be prepared to formally recognise these competencies as part of a career path for those in Parks Management and award Parks Managers recognition for the successful achievement and retention of these competencies.

This consultation has now closed.
