National School Meals Week 9 - 13 November 2020

National School Meals Week 9 - 13 November 2020
LACA (The school food people) who have been running NSMW for almost 30 years, are supporting school caterers across England and Wales to help encourage pupils to enjoy hot school meals to fuel healthy minds and to support local British Food.

National School Meals Week (NSMW) is the one week of the year when the school meals industry celebrates all that is GREAT about school food, this year it is being held 9 – 11 November 2020. Over the past few months it has been very challenging for the industry with schools having to make localised arrangements for all kinds of services. LACA (The school food people) who have been running NSMW for almost 30 years, are supporting school caterers across England and Wales to help encourage pupils to enjoy hot school meals to fuel healthy minds and to support local British Food. We are delighted to have the support of Proveg International, The Soil Association and Love British Food this year. We would also like to thank APSE for their support, as they have reached out to their members to get involved too.

A number of simple to run theme events have been planned for 2020, all with important messages around school food, all with free resources to make the events engaging and fun for children. From Go Meat Free Monday to Thank You Key Workers on Friday 11th, there is so much to get involved with. Visit www.thegreatschoollunch.co.uk for full details.

Over the years, social media has played an important part in promoting the event and in reaching the wider community. This year you can join in our #tasteforyourself campaign on:
  • Facebook @nationalschoolmealsweek
  • Twitter @NSMW @LACA_UK
  • Instagram #nationalschoolmealsweek
  • Don’t forget to use the hashtags #NSMW2020 #LACA_UK.

Adding in a bit of flexibility for 2020

NSMW has always been focussed around one week of the year, but with local lockdowns this year, we are giving caterers the option to reschedule the week if required. The main communications will still be focussed around 9 – 11 November but flexibility can be shown at a local level if that works better for schools and caterers alike.
