Land Audit Management System (LAMs)
LAMS is a quality inspection system to monitor grounds maintenance, which can also be applied to street cleansing for a total street scene quality score. You can use LAMS to measure the quality of your own localities and at the same time, benchmark these against other local authorities. You can choose between using the system to monitor grounds maintenance and/or street cleansing as well and benchmarking reports are produced bi-monthly. To download the information booklet click here.
BBITS have developed a LAMS monitoring APP for £500 per authority which includes GIS location and photo evidence for the inspections which eliminates the manual input of spreadsheets. Pilots, testing and training on the new APP will take place in June and July 2018.
APSE Northern Region
APSE Northern Annual General Meeting – LAMs demonstration
At the APSE Refuse and Street Cleansing Advisory Group on the 24th May in Manchester, we launched our Land Audit Management System (LAMS) APP.
The next opportunity to see the App demonstrated will be at the Northern Forum and Annual General Meeting which will take place at Chester Town Hall on 15 June 2018. The meeting will be looking at current issues regarding parks and greenspaces as well as having an interactive performance management workshop which will include LAMS.
Benchmarking Energy Costs
APSE Energy is establishing an energy price comparison project to benchmark energy costs between local authorities. Just a 0.5% cost reduction on an average energy bill can add up to a substantial figure and that is the reason for this project. We will be bringing people together for an initial meeting to discuss the type of data needed to make a relevant comparison and how we should go about it. We have access to a lot of experience and expertise in energy procurement and this is great opportunity to learn from and contribute to the debate and save some money.
Market Engagement Event: Underground Refuse Systems

The event is a unique opportunity to discuss this innovative collection method and to see these systems in a practical setting as well as meeting with both users and manufacturers to discuss the practical application of these systems.

APSE is undertaking research into Local Authority Apprenticeship Programmes. There are a range of questions that will enable a snapshot to be gained of the programmes local authorities are running in the UK. In order to aid this research, we would be most grateful if you could spare around 5 minutes to complete the following survey.
If you are unable to respond to all of the questions, please consult a colleague or forward a copy of the survey link.
