Planning guidance that gets results

Planning guidance that gets results

At a time when most APSE member councils have declared a climate emergency, it is more crucial than ever that local authorities have the tools and powers they need to control, direct, and influence local developments to ensure pressing environmental concerns are addressed. Yet, there is a shared frustration across the local government sector that the over-centralisation of the UK planning laws has created a system plagued by inconsistency, one that is often challenging for stakeholders to engage with.

APSE’s new publication ‘Planning guidance that gets results: A guide for councillors and local government officers' takes a pragmatic approach to this issue by detailing several best practice case studies that showcase how local authorities can have a positive influence over developers and other key stakeholders in the planning process.
