APSE and Liverpool to bring Underground Refuse Systems to the UK market

APSE Solutions is supporting Liverpool City Council to create a procurement framework for the supply of Underground Refuse Systems to UK local authorities.  The procurement process has now been commenced with the publication of a Prior Information Notice and a draft specification.  The specification will be finalised following engagement with suppliers.  

To facilitate effective engagement  suppliers expressing an interest will be invited to participate in an online supplier event planned for 3 June.  APSE Solutions will be hosting the event on its virtual platform. 

The framework is to consist of 4 lots to include:

• Supply of various designs of underground bins
• Ground works and installation of underground systems
• Supply of vehicles suitable for the collection of undergrounds bins
• Cleaning and maintenance of underground bins

Bidders will be encouraged to present joined up solutions to simplify the procurement process and deliver value for money for users of the framework.  

This is a real opportunity for suppliers to enter an emerging market place with many UK authorities actively considering the benefits of URS from an economic and environmental perspective.  The framework is expected to be available for call offs by late Summer/early Autumn 2020.
