APSE has been delivering training for local authorities on the management of allotments for over 10 years. This course, which has been updated for the virtual classroom, will provide you with an understanding of legal and statutory responsibilities alongside practical advice and guidance on what is required from:

  • local authorities
  • allotment associations with devolved management responsibilities
  • allotment holders

The course will also consider the current issues facing the sector e.g. funding, water, waiting lists, costs and enforcement, shared use, self-management, and site safety plus much more.

The training is primarily designed for local authority officers with responsibilities for managing established portfolios of allotment sites and dealing with on-site problems. It will also be relevant for officers working with allotment associations with devolved management.

Duration 

This course is offered as a full day or as two half days.

Morning sessions:         09:00 Start        12:00 Finish

Afternoon sessions:      13:00 Start        16:00 Finish

 

This course will be delivered online via Microsoft Teams. To access it you will need a WiFi connection or mobile data hotspot. Downloading Microsoft Teams to your laptop, desktop or smart device will give a better performance and greater functionality throughout the day.  This highly interactive training includes a mixture of presentations, video conferencing, group work, games, quizzes and video.
