Many local authorities are finding a way of striking the balance between home working and direct service delivery. Lone working, remote working and home working each bring opportunities and challenges. Through consultation with local councils APSE has developed this course to support managers with responsibility for staff who are working remotely, at home or virtually. During this unprecedented time of extended social distancing and changing local rules, staff need to feel a sense of belonging more than ever before and managers need to ensure the health, wellbeing and safety of their staff, as well as manage issues around productivity and service delivery standards.
This course explores best practice in managing and supporting staff remotely or virtually: focussing on health, safety and wellbeing; resilience; nurturing productivity; team development; managing a range of situations; challenging constructively; operating within a health and safety framework to support lone working.

This course will be delivered online via Microsoft Teams. To access it, you will need a WiFi connection or mobile data hotspot. Downloading Microsoft Teams to your laptop, desktop or smart device will give a better performance and greater functionality throughout the day. This highly interactive training includes a mixture of presentations, video conferencing, group work, games, quizzes and video.
Anyone who is managing and supervising staff who are working at home, working remotely on site, or in the community; lone workers in buildings and staff who are connected virtually.
