APSE roads, street lighting and winter maintenance rising stars award 2016

APSE roads, street lighting and winter maintenance rising stars award 2016

Celebrating the brightest stars in local government

APSE is pleased to present the Rising Stars Awards, coming to the national Roads, Street Lighting and Winter Maintenance Seminar 2016. These awards recognise the work of individuals, both established and new additions to the team, who are delivering excellence in leadership roles in frontline services.

This exciting new award is a celebration of the next generation of engineers, technicians, managers and directors for roads, highways and lighting services. It is an opportunity to promote the work of the brightest and best individuals as hard working, innovative future leaders in the highways and street lighting industry.

With the winner announced at the annual APSE Roads, Street Lighting and Winter Maintenance Seminar, these accomplished officers will have the opportunity to engage with their peers at an event specifically tailored to enhancing their skills and knowledge, whilst giving them the chance to establish themselves in the APSE highways and street lighting network.

So who are your rising stars? Who are those staff that deserve to be acknowledged for innovative ideas, working with partners, using new products or services, and delivering projects or workloads on time and on budget? We are looking for Rising Stars who are contributing to the development of innovation and new ways of working within your department, dealing with:

  • Roads and highways work
  • Street lighting
  • Asset management
  • Contract management/business development
  • Flooding/drainage/water management work
  • Winter maintenance
  • Traffic and transport planning
  • Any other bright individuals within your service

The finalists will receive substantial publicity, both nationally and locally, with the winners announced at the Highways and Street Lighting Annual Seminar dinner on Thursday 3rd March 2016. Finalists will receive a free place at the APSE Roads, Street Lighting and Winter Maintenance Seminar and accommodation for the night. All finalists will be notified no later than Monday 8th February 2016 and must be  available to be interviewed during the course of the seminar on Thursday 3rd March.

Member and non-member authorities are welcome to nominate as many rising stars as they have in their organisation. Private companies delivering local authority contracts may also put forward individuals as long as they are supported by the client local authority. Former applicants to the APSE Apprentice of the Year Awards are welcomed and encouraged.

Download an application form here.

The deadline for applications is Monday 1st February. Entries will be assessed on a submission basis by an independent judging panel.
