Seminar objectives

Winter maintenance services are essential for local residents and businesses but changeable and unpredictable weather conditions, increasing litigation from the public and keeping pace with new innovations and technical developments can all add to the challenges facing Highways Winter
Maintenance Services.

This seminar will explore exemplar councils in their winter maintenance approaches and tackle issues such as:

  • What are the legal requirements for winter maintenance managers?
  • How have councils innovated to meet the winter challenge
  • The opportunities from improved weather prediction and technology
  • Avoiding claims in an increasing litigious environment
  • Highways England, the approach to winter maintenance on major roads and opportunities for collaboration
  • Monitoring performance and costs.

All these issues and more will be discussed and debated with ample opportunity for delegate to network and learn and share ideas and information from each other.
