Catering (school meals)

The group covers education, welfare and civic catering. Topics covered include; marketing, tendering and service design, plus innovations in costing and staffing such as executive chefs in secondary schools and detailed analysis of price makeup. Nutrition, halal food, food standards and safety are featured, along with government changes to employment law. Civic catering typically looks at commercial opportunities. Welfare catering looks at issues such as the 'make or buy dilemma'. Relationship management with schools and clients are common themes.

The APSE Principal Advisor for this group is Vickie Hacking. The chair of this group is Cllr Julie Simpson, Gateshead Metropolitan Borough Council.
