APSE Sports and Leisure Network Meeting
MS Teams, Wednesday 20 May, 10.00 - 11.00
This online session introduces how Sport England is analysing energy usage data alongside participation and booking data to reduce energy consumption levels at public leisure centres. The session will explore the findings from 4 pilot sites in England where 26% of electrical, 34% of gas and 32% of water usage coincided with no recorded bookings within the facility. Working with Community Leisure UK, 4Global and Unify, operational improvements have been identified that provide savings of between 10%-20% of the energy costs at a site.
Emma Bernstein, Strategic Projects Lead at Sport England will explore how the work is now being expanded to another 30 sites in England and what best practice can be shared across the wider sector. The work is a collaboration of Sport England, Community Leisure UK, 4Global and Unify who will also join the session.
