APSE response to announcement of Liz Truss as new UK PM
In Liz Truss we now have a Prime Minister who has lived experience as a local councillor. We hope that this will inform her decisions when thinking about how local government can be part of the solution in responding to the multiple public policy issues which beset the UK.
Councils need to be properly resourced and empowered to deliver on the big policy issues of the day from housing, social care and tackling the climate emergency to the more immediate and pressing issue of supporting local people, local businesses and local communities through the cost of living crisis.
