Welcoming Lendology CIC, APSE’s newest Approved Partner

Welcoming Lendology CIC, APSE’s newest Approved Partner

Lendology CIC work in partnership with local councils to lend council capital to homeowners across the private sector. Their loans fund home repairs, improvements, adaptations, energy efficiency improvements or renewable energy measures.

Lendology enable physical improvements to be made to properties that can: enable long-standing issues to be addressed, bring empty properties back into use, improve accessibility for occupants, reduce carbon emissions or simply make homes more comfortable for people.

Lendology's lending decisions are made by people, for people. They take time to understand the unique circumstances of each client and do not use automated decision-making systems. This means that Lendology are able to accept applications from a broad range of people, whether retired, self-employed, in receipt of benefits, or with a poor credit score.  All clients receive the same interest rate, regardless of their circumstances or the amount borrowed.

Emma Lower, CEO, said, “As a Social Enterprise, our success is not measured through profit, but through outcomes for people.  Lending ensures that council capital is recycling; ensuring value for money through the mechanisms of our scheme and our close partnership approach.  To date, we have lent over £17million of council capital with over £10million having been repaid, ready to be re-lent.  The longevity of our scheme means that our partners can trust that they are in safe hands”.

Ellie Lister, Operations Director, said, “Our unique lending scheme enables us to support people who may be excluded from mainstream finance institutions or who are looking for a more flexible and fair finance solution.  Our holistic approach to lending means we find funding solutions for a range of homeowners, from individual owner occupiers through to portfolio landlords or empty property owners.  We work closely with our council partners to understand their strategic housing goals, inform policy and deliver on the ground”.

One of Lendology's existing partners, East Devon District Council said, “Our partnership with Lendology directly contributes to the Council’s Housing Renewal Strategy by helping improve housing conditions and supporting our climate change and fuel poverty commitments.”

Speaking of the partnership, APSE Chief Executive Paul O’Brien said, “As household budgets continue to be squeezed by the cost-of-living crisis, Lendology’s focus on those who may be financially excluded will be of huge value to our membership. We are therefore delighted to welcome Lendology to the APSE family.”
