As part of the APSE Transport Seminar on 20 June at Crewe Hall, we celebrated the achievements of apprentices in frontline transport services.
APSE research, included in our State of the Market reports, indicates that the average age of frontline operatives and technicians is growing yearly, with 50 being the average. Investment into training young people and offering more pathways into the profession is vital, therefore we applaud the councils that make a substantial investment of time and resources, especially in the current financial environment.
Following the submission of work portfolios and rigorous interviews, our panel chose Connor Russell from West Lothian Council as the winner of the APSE Transport Apprentice of the Year Award. A special recognition was given to Mackenzie McDonald, also from West Lothian Council.
A huge congratulations to Connor and Mackenzie!
