Lambeth Council welcomes iconic Brockwell Lido back under council management

This summer, Lambeth Council welcomed the iconic Brockwell Lido back under council management. Lambeth's in-house health and leisure service, Active Lambeth, will now manage the 89-year-old lido, one of the South London's most popular swimming and sports facilities.

The council is investing over £250,000 into the lido to enhance facilities and improve the experience for the local community, including the transformation of the gym with brand new sports equipment. The transition is a significant moment for one of South London’s most iconic leisure spaces, combining its rich heritage with new investment, improved facilities and greater access for residents.

Major investment and improvements

As part of the move, the lido will benefit from a major gym refurbishment, including over £250,000 investment in;

• new state‑of‑the‑art Pulse Fitness equipment
• a refreshed strength and dedicated functional training space
• brand-new flooring for a safer, more modern gym environment
• pool improvements, including new lane ropes

These upgrades are part of Lambeth Council’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality, accessible fitness facilities for residents across the borough.

Supporting members through the transition

Existing memberships will automatically transfer to Active Lambeth, with direct debits continuing seamlessly and no action required from members. Members will also benefit from:

• access to the Active Lambeth app for bookings, updates and entry via digital QR code
• a range of exclusive member perks, including offers, events, priority booking and promotions
• use of multiple leisure centres across Lambeth as part of the wider offer
