Judges' comments
A ground-breaking place transformation project with very strong impacts in terms of the improvements to the lived experience of residents, increases in recycling rates and lower operational costs. Judges were impressed with the way the project looked to global peers to identify solutions to a suite of well-articulated challenges and worked with the market to integrate and refine high-potential solutions in the Liverpool context. The solution Liverpool innovated is highly relevant and replicable to many UK councils and has rightly attracted international interest.
