Seminar objectives

This seminar will address developments in winter maintenance services and related issues. The aim is for operational managers to come together, to hear from experts and practitioners about the wider context for the service, some new developments at individual councils and new services from suppliers.

It provides an ideal opportunity for the discussion of relevant topics amongst the audience and will enable delegates to keep abreast of what is new in the sector. The agenda will be flexible with plenty of room for questions and discussion.

The first presentation will be made by Brian Smith, talking about the highways related recommendations which were made in the Transport Resilience Review. There are upcoming changes to licence arrangements We will hear about the implications from Richard Brown at Licence Check.

This is a free event for APSE members, and forms part of APSE Northern services to members to allow topical debate and an opportunity to network with colleagues, learning from their experiences. It will be held on Thursday 16th October 2014 at the Bradford Bulls Odsal Stadium, Stadium Road, Bradford, BD1 1HY and all officers, councillors and union representatives from APSE member authorities are invited.

Registration will be from 9:30am for a 10.00am start, refreshments will be available and lunch will also be provided. As you will appreciate, this type of event works best when those attending are happy to share their experience, policies and procedures, highlighting the problems and benefits of different approaches. APSE is happy to take forward any relevant work that comes out of the event such as further surveys, research or workshops.
