APSE Northern Research Roundtable Event Delivering the Ensuring Workforce: Challenges, Opportunities and Lesson Learning
Wednesday 11 March 2015, The Midland Hotel, Marine Road West, Morecambe, Lancashire, LA4 4BU
APSE developed the 'Ensuring Council' which explored how local authorities can have a pivotal role in local areas and local economies. The Ensuring Council shows how councils can retain and develop the principles of stewardship, maintain core capacity to provide services, develop a spirit of municipal entrepreneurialism, engage in collaboration with others, provide accountable political frameworks, and, have at its heart, the principles of social justice.
APSE's northern region recently agreed to fund a further work stream on the Ensuring Council research, developing for its member authorities in the north, an exploration of what being an Ensuring Council means in the context of the local workforce, who deliver our local services. This research will explore how the Ensuring Council principles are translated into the workforce culture, the development of staff and how the Ensuring Council principles can be embedded in the way in which services are developed and delivered by the workforce.
To make sure that this research is reflective of APSE's member authorities in the north of England, and to provide a sound basis for this research, you are invited to attend a roundtable event with leading academics that have helped develop the APSE Ensuring Council model.
