Seminar objectives

This seminar will examine the impact of the latest Williams report on the 'Commission on Public Service Governance and Delivery' and the efficiency challenges facing local authorities in Wales. This event will examine some of the tools which local authorities can use to meet the challenges ahead including transformation, demand management, innovation and income generation. It will also look wider in terms of the approaches from local government around the UK. The afternoon session will include innovation and case study examples and look at themes such as 'Can we radically change how we think about and deliver public services?' and 'Can we reach beyond existing demand?' This one day event aims not only to ensure delegates depart with a clear understanding of the key issues and latest developments, but also to provide tools, techniques and examples which can be taken back to the Authority. Attendance at this APSE one day seminar is essential for all officers and members with responsibility for delivering services or involved in policy.
