This meeting is an ideal opportunity for officers, elected members and local authority partners and trade unions to hear how the Resources and Waste Strategy for England 2018 will affect local authority waste services and the changes that may need to be made to deliver the aims of the strategy.
The approaches needing to be taken will be varied, as local conditions and contracts will be key factors in how each local authority will respond.
But the current uncertainty of what will be required, how it will be delivered operationally, and perhaps most importantly, how any changes will be funded are all requiring greater clarification.
The meeting will look to address these issues, as far as possible, by hearing about the experiences of other local authorities and also via an open discussion where delegates will be able to ask questions and hopefully provide their understanding of how the strategy can be delivered through their own experiences to date.
Resources & Waste Strategy – where are we now?
