Last year saw the sector begin to emerge from two years of Covid and we looked to secure the future of public sport and leisure services. The last 12 months have not provided the recovery we had hoped with multiple issues continuing to impinge the ability to operate freely. Labour shortages continue to impede opening and the energy crisis threatens to make pool heating astronomic and an inflationary squeeze on wages may well impact discretionary spend on leisure. Contracts with external providers are in some cases no longer fit for purpose and many authorities are looking at bringing the service back in-house.
The seminar will explore the state of the market, staffing and options to move to renewable energy along with presentations from those on the front-line and the challenges they are negotiating.
We will be looking at the challenges of refocussing a service and asking some fundamental questions about the nature of service provision in the future.
We are joined by leading industry speakers to address the issues and possible solutions.
