Entry to the awards is free of charge and successfully short-listed candidates, and the local authorities they represent, receive individual awards to recognise the achievements of both the apprentice and the employer.

Designed in the wake of the late 2021 HGV driver shortage crisis, the aim of this survey of APSE’s member authority refuse teams was to gather accurate real time data on the pay rates of refuse workers: HGV drivers, non-HGV drivers and loaders. The survey also includes questions and analysis on retention and recruitment issues in the sector. 

APSE has designed this survey in order to gather accurate data on the current state of DIY waste charges across English and Welsh local authority HWRCs, and the potential impact government changes may have on the future delivery of waste and recycling services. 

The All Party Parliamentary Group for School Food is undertaking a short survey to gain a snapshot of the impact of the cost of living crisis on school food. All Responses to the survey will be anonymised in the report. We would be grateful if you could complete the survey by 22 July 2022.

APSE Energy is carrying out a short survey to gain an understanding of the practicalities, progress and issues that local authorities are facing when it comes to installing electric vehicle charging infrastructure. We will make the results available to all those who complete the survey and to APSE Energy members.

In PlotBox, the Huntingdon team are able to manage and schedule cremations, appointments and services, as well as manage work permits for memorial masons to carry out work on site. 

Recycled vegetable oil is already being used to heat homes in Scotland as an eco-friendly solution to combat carbon emissions. APSE Direct interviewed Patrick Taggart, Fleet Service Manager at Falkirk Council, to discuss whether HVO fuel is a viable carbon-friendly option for fleet and transport managers. 

Lendology CIC are a Social Enterprise lender, working in partnership with councils.  Lendology work closely with the Private Sector Housing and Senior Management teams within local authorities to understand the strategic housing aims of the council and develop a partnership that delivers meaningful change across the sector. 

A report by the Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE), researched and written by the Town and Country Planning Association (TCPA), has today been published, considering the important role of local councils in tackling climate change, with an emphasis on their responsibilities in relation to housing and planning.

APSE is delighted to announce the winners of the APSE Striving for Excellence Awards 2022.

Having an understanding of electricity is vital to being able to manage energy better and invest effectively to generate, distribute or supply it. This new APSE energy publication provides a clear and concise explanation of the topic of electricity, how it works and, most importantly, how the people and businesses that local authorities serve can benefit from it.

Sutton Council and Age UK Sutton are working together to support older people in the Borough with the shared ambition of more people enjoying a good later life.
