APSE Waste, Recycling, and Circular Economy Innovation Awards 2025 

APSE is pleased to present the Innovation Awards, celebrating outstanding local councils that use innovative ideas and solutions to tackle the current challenges facing the waste and recycling sector. The awards provide participating authorities with an opportunity to showcase their expertise, alongside the results that they have achieved.

This year, the Innovation Awards are split into three categories:

• Local Authority Circular Economy Innovation Award
• Making ‘hard-to-recycle’ easier innovation Award
• Innovation in behaviour change

The ideal submission will contain a description of the problem or challenge faced, the innovative approach taken, and the outcomes achieved. Specifically, we are looking for councils that are contributing to the development of new initiatives, and of new working methods in their authority.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony held at the end of the Waste and Recycling Seminar 2025, which will be held at the Nottingham Belfry Hotel, on Thursday 23 October 2025.

Both member and non-member authorities are welcome to submit an application. 

Entries will be assessed on a submission basis by an independent judging panel. Shortlisted submissions will be expected to make a short presentation to a judging panel during the seminar, which will contribute to their final score.
