This introductory course to waste collection and street cleansing services will give participants an overview of what waste is and how it is regulated. Participants will gain an understanding of the legal landscape and the importance of compliance. At the end of the course participants will have acquired a basic knowledge of the key issues, how to apply this knowledge in a work setting and will be signposted to further learning.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this training you will:
- Build on new and refreshed knowledge to ensure excellent outcomes for local communities.
- Discuss the importance of waste management in providing excellent public services.
- Appreciate the broad range of associated services in improving Local Environmental Quality (LEQ)
- Compare “statutory” and “enabling" legislation and explain the importance of compliance.
- Assess the value of insourcing services to maximise public benefit.
- Develop the confidence to apply tools and learning back in the workplace.
This course will be delivered online via Microsoft Teams. To access it, you will need a WiFi connection or mobile data hotspot. Downloading Microsoft Teams to your laptop, desktop or smart device will give a better performance and greater functionality throughout the day. This highly interactive training includes a mixture of presentations, video conferencing, group work, games, quizzes and video.
Who will benefit from attending?
Anybody new to waste or who needs a refresher. The course is ideal for frontline supervisors, team leaders and those wishing to further their career and/or knowledge in this important area.
Elected Members, with responsibility for waste management or street cleansing services, may find this course to be a useful introduction.
Additionally, those who work in call centres or work alongside waste services and want to increase their knowledge to assist customers more effectively, would find this course to be of use.
